Project Overview

Unified Building Group (UBG) completed a new K-8 Charter School in the Northwest region of the Aurora Public Schools District. This two-phased project for the Academy for Advanced Learning converted an old Hobby Lobby into an state of the art educational facility. The scope consisted of the interior build-out of 50,000 square feet to accommodate Grades K-6 with new classrooms, lobby area, multipurpose room/cafeteria, restrooms, offices, an administration area and a nurses station. Phase II of the project included adding 18,000 square feet to expand the school to offer Grades 7-8.

I am the Founder and CEO of Third Future Schools, a new charter network in Colorado. We contracted with John Albert and Unified Building Group to build our first school. The project required turning a former Hobby Lobby (50,000 square feet) into a 500-student, elementary school in five months. Few thought it was possible and no one thought it could be done on time and at budget. Through excellent work, incredible project management, and a real sense of urgency, Unified Building Group got the job done and our students started the school year in a great building.UBG was in constant communications with me, the architect, and the owner’s representative, ensuring that our interests were being met and any concerns addressed. In such a competitive market, I believe John’s leadership and his team’s ability to attract highly-skilled workers made all the difference. We hope to continue the partnership with UBG as we expand our present school and build other ones in the near future.
